This program is designed for 1:1 mentoring sessions with me, Jess, directly. If you are a current student enrolled in an interpreter training program, plan to be enrolled soon, or just graduated...this program is perfect for you. Whenever you have questions for any reason, you want to practice or review assignments, you can schedule your sessions whenever you see fits your schedule and we can discuss your goals in depth. You'll be able to see my plans for our meetings and you will be able to add to the agenda too.

Most students like to go over homework assignments, voicing and signing skill practice, review videos together, discuss work options, potential scenarios, challenges in the field, and more.

Each session is completely guided by what you need most. You'll be able to note and share what you want to discuss prior to us meeting. I'll be sure to follow up with you if needed to clarify specifics with you and to make sure all mine and your resources are ready for what we plan to review/practice in our next session.

No, but I would like you to know basic American Sign Language and ensure you can hold a conversation without speaking. If you only know a few signs and can only spell, this mentorship is not yet what you need.

When you can sign with your voice off and are actively learning ASL, then please do come back and we can work on your skills together before, during, or after pursuing interpreting. I will not be teaching ASL or beginners, however I do have a resource page you can purchase for $20 that has a list of apps, websites, universities, and annual Deaf events you can look into. Please email [email protected] if you're interested in that option. 

Your first meet and greet with me is FREE for 30 mins. If you agree to our plan discussed, you can choose to start with the 4 session package which includes an Introduction session. Once you are registered, members can add additional sessions as needed.

Package options for sessions:

$399 - Intro session + 4 sessions (60 minutes)

$549 - Intro session + 4 sessions (90 minutes)

Both include all recorded sessions for your review, pre-planned agenda, notes for both mentor and client to share, and resources designed for the session.

A certified interpreting mentor will be someone qualified and is actively working in the interpreting field. They can help walk you through your learning process and be someone to answer any questions you've been wanting to ask. As an interpreting student, there is so much you won't know about or experience until it actually happens. A mentor can guide you, train you, and help ensure your skills are always growing as every situation you encounter will always be different. Whatever you have questions about, a mentor in the field has been in your shoes, experienced exactly what you're going through and also asked their mentors the same questions.

We interpreters have experienced things the field doesn't teach you because there is SO much to know and learn. Whatever you think can happen to a person in real life, an interpreter has probably been there to witness it and interpret it. With respect to our code of conduct and confidential commitment to the field, we interpreters are qualified resources to lean on for guidance and share perspectives for best preparation practices.

This work can be very challenging and it's best you know important steps to take before you are thrown into the world on your own. There is a lot out there that you won't learn for some time, but we mentors want to make sure you can take on any challenge and do whatever it takes to keep growing in this field with the right tools and resources before you encounter it. This way when the time comes, and you're on your own, you'll be ready for the task at hand.
